Natural Fiber rugs from Surface Threads are remarkably resilient, which makes cleaning and caring for them relatively easy. Sisal, Coir, and Jute fibers, for example, stand up naturally to dirt and grime and respond well to regular vacuuming. As static-free fibers, these rugs naturally repel dirt buildup, and instead, dirt and dust particles are filtered through the weave of the rug, which reduces surface-level grime, damage, and abrasion.
To ensure a long life for your Natural Fiber rug, we recommend regular vacuuming with both suction and brush action. Upright and canister vacuums each perform well, and for best results, we suggest making several passes over the area from different directions, particularly in high-traffic areas.
Avoid any cleaning techniques that require saturating the floor covering with water or cleaner, as this will stain the rug.
When attempting to remove a stain from your Natural Fiber rug, it is best to clean up the spill immediately after it occurs. For liquid spills, blot the affected area with a clean, undyed cloth to try and soak up as much of the liquid as possible. For solid spills, gently use a spoon or the dull edge of a knife or spatula to scrape up the spill.
